NASSCOM Assessment of Competence-Technology (NAC Tech)

NASSCOM with a collective effort from key IT companies—Accenture, Cognizant, HCL, IBM, Infosys, Microsoft, TCS, and Wipro—has developed the Foundation Skills in IT (FSIT) program with a view to enhance the skills that students need, to become industry ready. The Foundation Skills in IT (FSIT) training program is aimed to empower students with IT related skills at the entry level. Key Features of NAC-Tech

• Eligibility for NAC-Tech
  -  All 2012 and 2013 candidate of BE, B.Tech, MCA, MSc-IT are eligible to take the test
  -  Preferred Scores of candidates: 60% aggregate in graduation, 12th standard & 10th standard
• NAC-Tech Test Fee 
  The price for NAC-Tech test per candidate is as follows:
• NAC-Tech Part A - Rs 158
• NAC-Tech Part A + B  - Rs237
• Apart from this, Rs. 70 / Rs. 60 as center fee (for infrastructure at retail center or college respectively) can be chargeable, if applicable.

NAC-Tech Test Matrix

Part A (this must be attempted by all candidates) 

 

Verbal Ability - To assess candidate's verbal building blocks by evaluating skills like grammar, spellings, punctuations and vocabulary. To assess English usage by evaluating skills like structure, arguments and verbal reasoning.

Duration - 20 Minutes

 

Reading Comprehension - To assess candidate's comprehension of English passages and ability to make inferences from a large amount of information. Be able to connect the dots and make an assessment based on information and ideas spread across the passage.

Duration - 10 Minutes

 

Analytical Reasoning - To assess problem solving skills through questions on quantitative reasoning. To assess candidate's logical skills by evaluating skills like Deduction, Induction and Visualization.

Duration - 25 minutes 

 

Attention to Detail  - To assess candidates eye for detail.

Duration - 5 Minutes

 

Online total duration is 60 minutes. 

 

Part B - Optional (can be attempted if the student so desires) 

(The candidate can choose any one of the domains) 

Aim - To assess candidate's technical skills in the core area of education.

Duration - 30 minutes

Andro Minds 2013 - Mobile Development Phenomena - March 16th

3 Month mega fest

The ‘ANDRO MINDS 2013’ is a 3 month long mega-fest with an objective to create a Mobile Development Phenomena in Chennai. It aims to bring together 1000 students from several different colleges on a single platform to meet the demands of many companies. This fest comprises of hands-on learning workshops, internship opportunities to participants, prizes to win at the Code-fest and job offers to grab during the grand finale.

EVENT DETAILS:
 The Android learning workshop will be held on March 2, followed by a 2-week long Code-fest that starts in March-16, 2013. A grand finale will be organized on April-7 with a job-fair by several companies in the space of mobile development. It will also comprise of apps-showcase along side of the job fair at the grand finale.

 

 The Code Fest
At the Code Fest, all participants will be grouped in teams of three on March 16, 2013. Each team will build a prototype of their unique idea within a period of 2-weeks. The selected prototypes will be showcased at the Grand Finale and on the website. A public poll will decide the winner of the Code-fest, and the team will walk away with an Android Tablet sponsored by Open Novus.

The Grand Finale
On a finishing note, the Grand Finale on April-7, 2013 will comprise of a Job-Fair, Networking Lunch and App Showcase. After the fest ends, the Andro Minds 2013 team shall establish a Center-of-excellence for Google technologies in several colleges in Chennai.

HIGHLIGHTS
The participants are offered 75% scholarship on the registration fee for Andro Minds 2013. This is a great incentive for students to get started with Android programming. All participants get certificates for their effort and enthusiasm at this fest.

NIYANTRA is an autonomous embedded systems design contest open only to engineering students which encourages you to build a complete working system within the project period available to them in their curriculum. The competing teams design and build systems for mobile, networked or standalone applications performing various intelligent tasks using LabVIEW and other toolkits. Winners walk away with prizes worth 1.25 lakhs, an opportunity for a pre-placement interview and eligibility to talk up the CLAD certification exam.

Purpose of Contest

The purpose of contest is to encourage students to design and build embedded systems for mobile, networked or standalone applications performing various intelligent functionalities using LabVIEW as the graphical programming platform. Contest Description

The proposed embedded system must be programmed using LabVIEW as the programming platform. The participating teams document the code and the document, source code, and application video will be made available to the other participating teams for subsequent years.

The workshop on ‘Low Power Embedded System using MSP430 Microcontroller’ aims to provide engineers with a fast, cost-effective way to acquire the knowledge on Low power embedded applications. The workshop will be held during March 22nd & 23th , 2013 at TIFAC-CORE, Velammal Engineering College, Chennai-66, established in the year 1995-96, to impart quality education. The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli prides itself on being one of the foremost Engineering colleges of India. Set in the town of Trichy, whose cultural history needs no introduction, NITT is known to provide an environment for extending knowledge beyond just the curriculum. Its students, coming from diverse backgrounds, break all cultural and barriers and come together in organizing Pragyan 2013, a techno-management fest of International magnitude.

Conceived in 2005, Pragyan (Sanskrit, for Supreme Intelligence) undoubtedly is the best brainstorm by the NITT students. The academic exposure guaranteed by the fest is unbelievable. Interaction with technical geniuses, management gurus, and renowned scientists is ensured. Students from all over India participate, enriching themselves.

Calling the veterans and neophytes alike to turn their minds on and churning; for Brainwork is one larder of events that is sure to fry gray matter. Whether it be brain wrecking puzzlers, cogitation, quizzes or just plain simple Science; these contests call those who think themselves
worthy to put their thought-organizing and knowledge-parading skills to the test…

Manigma:

Pragyan wouldn’t be techno-management, if it weren’t for the events that test the entrepreneurial and business acumen of our participants! Here, our contestants turn themselves into many things; from mean, business-minded strategists to share-market sharks to the apprentice. After all, it’s just good business; and that’s the way the cookie crumbles…

Each year the success of the fest makes it impossible to believe it could be made better and yet every year Pragyan attains newer heights. Pragyan 2013, will be no exception to this trend… So this is a battle cry for all the Pragyan of the world.
